We provide refresher information to help you meet the requirements of the Mature Driver Improvement Programs as specified in California Code, Vehicle Code - VEH § 1675 as a course provider approved by the department pursuant to subdivision (a). You can attend a mature driver improvement course by using our online non-classroom setting. Actual study time must be at least 400 minutes of instruction for the initial course and 240 minutes of instruction for the renewal course. (not including registration time, breaks, lunch periods, and issuance of completion certificates) Sections Included: HEALTH AND DRIVING PERFORMANCE EFFECTS OF MEDICATION AND ALCOHOL RULES OF THE ROAD AND DEFENSIVE DRIVING COUNTERMEASURES PLANNING A TRIP AHEAD AND HANDLING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS Elective - Recreational Vehicle Safety Elective - Deciding When to Stop Driving Elective - Local Weather & Traffic Conditions Affecting Driving Performance A completion certificate for the initial course is valid for three years from the date of completion. The certificate may be renewed by successfully completing a subsequent renewal mature driver improvement course within one year of the expiration of the certificate, or if more than one year has elapsed since the expiration.
